Connecting to the stream server as a presenter

To broadcast live, your broadcasting software (encoder) connects to the stream server. With LexyCast there are three ways to do this:

  • Shoutcast v2: sends the title and cover art of the current song
  • Icecast
  • Shoutcast v1: for older broadcasting programs

What you need

With LexyCast, every presenter gets their own source port and their own password. Enter these details in your broadcasting software:

  1. Server / host: the address of your stream server
  2. Port: your personal source port
  3. Password: your personal presenter password
  4. Mountpoint (Icecast only): the path of your stream
  5. Format and bitrate: matching your plan, see the article on codecs and bitrates

You will find the login details in your LexyCast panel under presenter management. The station operator can add and remove presenters there.

Common broadcasting programs

Popular choices include BUTT, Mixxx, RadioBOSS, SAM Broadcaster and Virtual DJ. The fields have slightly different names in each program, but the details you enter are always the same.

Connection not working?

  • Check that you have selected the right connection format (Shoutcast v1, Shoutcast v2 or Icecast).
  • Look out for typos and trailing spaces in the port and password.
  • Is another presenter currently on air? Then wait until they disconnect.

If you're still stuck, open a support ticket. We're here for you around the clock.
